The ECHS Class of ’65 celebrated their remarkable 60th reunion on Friday, May 30th, at the welcoming Coach’s Corner in Wetumpka, Alabama.
Early birds Mary Emma Pannell Holt and her husband Ron, alongside Charles Farrow, Kitty Durham Graham, and Larry Nelson with his wife Mia, were hard at work, putting the finishing touches on the room. Larry and Mia created a picturesque backdrop with a net and floral accents for photos, while the others organized the special tables.
One table stood as a tribute to the classmates who are no longer with us. Another held name tags for those attending and thoughtful cards for those who couldn’t make it due to illness. Everyone took the time to write encouraging messages, spreading warmth and well wishes.
As more classmates arrived, heartfelt hugs and handshakes filled the room, reuniting old friends who don’t often see each other. Conversations flowed easily as people caught up on life, reminisced over stories, and made plans to stay in closer touch.
With ease, everyone settled at the dining tables, reconnecting with old friends while the waitstaff patiently took dinner orders.
The photographers organized groups for pictures. The ladies, then the gentlemen, all smiled for the camera. Couples, lifelong friends, and singles eagerly awaited their turns, hoping the camera would capture the joy of the moment.
The beauty of a 60th reunion lies in the way friendships evolve over time. People who weren’t necessarily close in school often find a deeper connection years later, discovering more shared interests, more reasons to celebrate, and a special joy in simply spending time together.
